UK's electric car industry is picking up speed - Telegraph: "As well as luxury automotive makers such as McLaren – which has produced the new MP4-12C sports car – and Jaguar Land Rover, companies such as Evo Electric are also popping up. Evo Electric was founded in 2006 by Dr Michael Lamperth and Dr Malte Jaensch. Within Imperial College’s Hybrid Power Research Group, the pair had developed electric motors and generators using a techology called 'Axial Flux”, that they believe is lighter, cheaper and more efficient than conventional electric machines."
